The day’s festivities kicked off with a warm welcome from the Swindon Stilt Walker and captivating performances by the Evolution Choir and the bell ringers The Belle Tones. The highlight was the mouthwatering Christmas dinner prepared by the home’s Head Chef, featuring traditional delights such as turkey and pigs in blankets.
Statistics reveal that nearly 1.5 million older individuals feel more isolated during the Christmas season than at any other time of year*. In response to this concerning trend, Care UK has launched the Care to Share initiative, dedicated to providing support for the elderly during the holidays.
Over 100 Care UK homes across the country will participate in this initiative to offer a secure and sociable environment for seniors in the community to partake in festive merriment and pleasant company, from joining in jolly carol-singing to relishing a Christmas movie with a side of mince pie.
Skye Williams, the general manager at Salisbury Manor, expressed her delight in hosting the event, welcoming older members of the community to join residents and team members at the Friendship Café for Christmas lunch.
Williams stated, “At Salisbury Manor, we are firm believers that everyone deserves to share in the Christmas spirit, which is why we welcomed those who might be feeling alone or longing for companionship. We were delighted to extend our invitation to the guests, offering them a delightful Christmas dinner and entertainment alongside our residents.”
Williams extended her gratitude to the Swindon Stilt Walker, The Belle Tomes, and Evolution Choir for their exceptional performances, expressing the hope of nurturing enduring connections and friendships within the local community.
