Man Arrested for Threatening Swindon MP Over Israel-Gaza Crisis

Feras Al-Jayoosi, 36, has been taken into custody after allegedly sending threatening emails to MP Justin Tomlinson regarding the Israel-Gaza crisis. The arrest was made by counter-terrorism authorities on Thursday, November 23, and Al-Jayoosi has since been charged with stalking and an unrelated criminal damage offense. At his appearance in Swindon Magistrates’ Court, it was alleged that the emails caused “serious concern” to the MP.

Given the seriousness of the charges, legal advisor Sangit Purewal recommended that the case be handled by the Chief Magistrate. The prosecution sought a remand in custody, which was granted, and the defendant is set to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, November 29.
