Kingsbury Green Academy Students Showcase Art at Calne Festival

Proud students from Kingsbury Green Academy had their artwork featured at the Calne Music and Arts Festival where two of their GCSE art pieces were successfully sold. The festival, open to artists of all levels, provided a platform for the young talents to exhibit their thought-provoking creations, showcasing a diverse range of techniques and themes.

Out of the five pupils who exhibited their work, two students, Leon and Hollie, made sales - Leon’s photographic manipulation piece and Hollie’s edited photo of a butterfly. The exhibition also included a captivating oil pastel portrait of someone eating spaghetti by Katie, an introspective oil pastel self-portrait by Hollie, and a compelling biro piece addressing the issue of female safety, inspired by photographer Jason Travis and the tragic case of Sarah Everard.

Reflecting on their success, Leon, now in Year 12, expressed surprise at making a sale, while Katie noted the valuable experience gained from interacting with other artists and drawing inspiration from the festival’s vibrant atmosphere.
