Kingsbury Green Academy Students Shine at Calne Music and Arts Festival

Pupils from Kingsbury Green Academy have achieved a significant milestone in their artistic journeys by selling their creations at the Calne Music and Arts Festival. Five pupils participated in the festival, which welcomed artists of all ages and career stages. The displayed artwork, completed as part of their GCSE Art course, showcased a diverse range of techniques and themes, leaving a lasting impression on attendees.

Among the exhibited pieces, two were successfully sold to discerning buyers who recognized the students' talent. Leon’s photographic manipulation piece and Hollie’s edited photo of a butterfly caught the attention of art enthusiasts. Additional captivating works included a compelling oil pastel portrait of someone eating spaghetti by Katie, an introspective oil pastel self-portrait on reflections by Hollie, and a thought-provoking biro piece inspired by photographer Jason Travis, delving into the crucial theme of female safety and Sarah Everard.

Reflecting on the success, Leon, now in Year 12, expressed his surprise and delight at selling his piece, emphasizing the positive feedback he received from the buyer. Similarly, Katie shared her motivation to exhibit at the festival, highlighting the inspiration garnered from the diverse artworks on display in previous years.
