An elderly woman in her 60s from Dudley, suffered life-changing injuries in a tragic four-vehicle crash in Wiltshire, leaving her with emotional and physical scars. The collision shattered her dreams, as the aftermath of the incident brought back painful restrictions akin to those experienced during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The crash occurred on July 15 last year when Scott Hudson, 57, collided with the rear of a vehicle, setting off a chain reaction that resulted in the woman’s serious arm injury. She was airlifted to the hospital and underwent extensive surgeries to recover. In a poignant victim impact statement, she expressed how the accident devastated their plans for the future, including a long-awaited year of liberation and adventures in their new campervan, along with costly losses from event tickets and pre-booked camping arrangements.
Following his admission of guilt for causing serious injury by driving, Hudson was sentenced at Salisbury Magistrates' Court, receiving an 18-month community order, a driving disqualification, and monetary penalties.
